Legal Italian in a European Perspective

The Colloquium Legal Italian in a European Perspective came from the collaboration of scholars interested in questions related to legal language in a broad sense, both in the judicial and linguistic sciences.

Tied to this is an initiative by the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission (whose Italian section is directed by Daniela Murillo Perdomo), aimed at constituting a “Rete di eccellenza per l’italiano istituzionale” (REI) - Network of Excellency for Institutional Italian, offering translators help and solutions with terminology, especially for law, finance and health.

The Accademia della Crusca, through its President Francesco Sabatini, hosted a meeting between linguists and those in the legal profession dealing with these topics, and members of the Directive Board of the REI.
